Description
PNC-27 is a 32-amino-acid peptide containing the HDM-2 binding domain of p53 (residues 12–26) fused to a membrane-resident peptide sequence (MRP). Research has shown that PNC-27 selectively inserts into the membranes of cancer cells displaying HDM-2 on their surface, forming pores that lead to membrane disruption.
Studies have characterized PNC-27’s selectivity for transformed cells over normal cells in cell culture, making it a valuable research tool for examining membrane-targeted approaches to cancer cell biology.
