Description
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide (Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro) consisting of the ACTH(4–7) fragment with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro stabilizing extension. The modification extends biological half-life while preserving the neurotropic activity of the ACTH fragment.
Research has investigated Semax for its nootropic and neuroprotective effects, including upregulation of BDNF and NGF expression, modulation of dopaminergic and serotonergic systems, and neuroprotection in models of cerebral ischemia.
